DA_GHOST- I definitely agree with you that some our younger brothers/sisters are lost but who's really around PUBLICALLY to show them the path in which they should take? Our definition of TRUTH differs from theirs so they do what they know. And as much as I want to fault them for that, I can not. All the PE's and KRS1's are lingering underground now, therefore the "majority" of music that holds substance is scarce. If all these young brothas see is nonsense, then theyre going to pursue it because the nonsense is whats getting the most hype and the most money, all the pretty females etc. Notice how you don't hear about what kind of house NAS or TALIB or COMMON is living in. You dont hear about what kind of cars they drive and what kind of ice they rock. Their substance is in the music, their passion is displayed on the paper. They do what they do for the love of it and to spread meaningful messages to the masses. Today's music is not about that anymore. Its all about money. I know brothas right now that are praying for the day they get a deal so they can get out of the lifestyle they're living in, and when they spit, they spit about everything they do, or have done. If you dont have a lot of positives going on in your life how can you write about it? Some ppl are just fed up and bitter in regards to the way society played them so their music exemplies that. Their struggle. Im not even going to lie to you, when I hear things of that nature (drugs, violence, pimping) I automatically sum it up as GARBAGE because theres no positives in it.. but I can not dismiss their effort. Their doing what they are suppose to but just going about it in the wrong way.. like you said, they're lost
